Shower txt~It is customary for family and friends to attend a baby shower to welcome the new life, to show support and to lavish gifts on the mama / parents-to-be., providing them with a basis of fun and practical items. However, it is also an excuse for a good knees-up with plenty of food, drink, presents and cake!!

Here are a few top tips to ensure a fabulous baby shower . . .

Timing

Aim to throw your baby shower about 4 - 6 weeks before the Mama-to-be's due date. Send invites out to her closest girlfriends and family with plenty of notice. (Our Baby Shower Kits contain baby shower invitations). Why not send not set the scene and include one of sassy Flower Buds with your invitations. These have graced several celebrity baby shower goody bags! Ask everyone to bring a gift for the Mama or for the new baby.

Theme / Location

Decide on a theme and location - currently the most popular is . . 'A big girl's afternoon tea party à la Geri Halliwell'.

(A tea party would normally be held in someone's home or anywhere where the mama-to-be will feel comfortable. If the shower party is held at home ensure there are plenty of seats to go round. If your mama-to-be isn't a tea party kind of gal, perhaps an intimate evening soiree or a gathering in a restaurant would be more suitable!)

Decorating the venue

Drinks and Nibbles

Once all the guests arrive the tea party can commence! Hand round drinks and nibbles. Other good games include the 'Baby Picture Match Game'. All guests must be asked for a photograph of themselves as a baby. The photographs are then assembled on a board and guests are asked to match the photograph to the appropriate guest. The person who gets the most correct answers wins.
